Susan Margaret Schlumberger

October 13, 1932 — April 9, 2025

Susan Margaret Schlumberger died peacefully on April 9, 2025, at the age of 92. Susan was born in 1932 in Medford Oregon to Blanford and Ruth Shores and was the youngest of three sisters. Susan attended Mount Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California where she met her future husband, Donald Ernest Schlumberger. They married in 1950. Don joined the Navy, and Susan traveled with him when she could. After the Navy, they lived in Salem, Oregon where Don attended university and their three children were born. They settled in Edmonds, then Shoreline, Washington where they raised their children. Susan was active in her community and the family attended Edmonds Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.

Susan possessed both a talent and passion for sewing, quilting, painting and crafting. She loved reading, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Susan found joy being “Nonnie” to her grandkids, making each of them feel loved and special. She was an excellent baker and will forever be famous for her Swedish Cardamom bread and sugar cookies. She had a deep and abiding faith in God that guided her throughout her long and contented life.

Susan was the heart and soul of her family. Her wisdom, her laughter, and the way she embraced life left an indelible mark on the lucky souls whose lives she touched. She had that rare ability to make everyone feel like family and she carried herself with grace, strength and love.

Don and Susan spent their retirement years living on Lake Cavanaugh, then Mount Vernon, Washington where they were active at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church. They traveled the country in their RV and had many memorable experiences together. She leaves behind her loving husband, Don, her children, Karen, (Rob), Kris (Don) and Scott (Darla) along with her 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She will be missed and always remembered.

Donations can be made in Susan’s honor to Compassion International.
