Sharon Joette Frank McIntosh

July 23, 1954 — November 2, 2025

Sharon Joette Frank McIntosh, 71, moved on to be with her family and her Lord on November 2, 2025. She passed away in Seattle, WA, surrounded by her immediate family following complications stemming from a recent knee surgery and chronic conditions.

Born in Trinidad, CO, to an Orthodox Jewish military family, Sharon spent her childhood moving around the country until her family settled in Des Moines, WA. There she was a member of Job’s Daughters and became the Washington DeMolay Sweetheart in 1971. Sharon graduated from Mt Rainier High School and went on to study philosophy and, later, education at the University of Washington. This enabled her to become a teacher’s assistant at Highline High School in Burien, WA, and later at Ryther Child Center where she worked in the special education program.

Sharon met her husband, Alex, at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, WA, where both attended and spent time in the young adult programs. After marrying, Sharon and Alex adopted two children, Rose and Ira. Sharon was able to use the skills she had learned in the Seattle Public School System by homeschooling her children. She took great joy in decorating the home for each season and creatively leading her children’s education as well as encouraging them through many extracurriculars, particularly music.

Always integrally involved in all family activities from leading AWANA programs at her church to starting a homeschool Co-Op, even making costumes for her son’s theater productions and drilling facts about 4-H and various languages with her daughter, Sharon took great pride in her family and poured as much attention and love into them as she could. All of this in spite of several chronic health issues.

Sharon’s spark never dimmed, even at the end. She will be remembered as fiercely passionate and willing to support those closest to her in any way she could.

A memorial service/celebration of life will take place at a later date. In the meantime, in lieu of gifts, Sharon’s family asks that you donate to PAWS, Woodland Park Zoo, where she volunteered for many years in their educational programs, or to your local church, synagogue, or food bank.
