It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we share the passing of Ramon Lorenzo Jaoleco Morales, who departed peacefully at the age of 91 on May 1, 2025, in Seattle, Washington.
Ramon, also known as Lorenz or Uncle Monching, was born on September 5, 1933, to Ramon Eduardo Villanueva Morales Jr. and Abesinia De Leon Jaoleco. He spent his childhood in the Philippines alongside his sister, Teresita Morales Azul, and extended family during the challenging years of the Japanese occupation.
A proud graduate of Far Eastern University, Ramon earned a degree in Civil Engineering—and during his time there, he also played college basketball, a sport he loved and spoke of fondly throughout his life. He later dedicated 20 years of service to the United States Navy.
On June 25, 1966, he married Norma Osias Basconcillo, beginning a 58-year partnership filled with love, loud conversations, resilience, and world adventure.
Their life together began on Beacon Hill in Seattle, WA, then took them through the hurricanes of Key West, FL, to time in Vallejo, CA, raising a family in Bremerton, WA, enjoying nearly two decades of retirement in Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines, and finally returning full circle to Seattle, where they spent the past seven years at the Bayview Retirement Community.
Ramon had many passions—golf, firearms, culinary arts, model trains, motorcycles, cars and Seattle sports teams. He will be remembered as a gentle soul with a warm smile, a loving husband and father, a proud grandfather, and a dedicated serviceman.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma; their children, Ramon Morales and Cecile Blois; and grandchildren, Nicolas, Sydney, Vera, and Adam. He was preceded in death by his sister Teresita, his parents, and his treasured dogs Iris, Aiko, and Tiara and cats.
He will be remembered on June 5th and 6th, 2025:
June 5th, 6:30 PM – Rosary and memorial service at the Bayview Retirement Community Chapel (11 West Aloha St; entrance through the glass doors in the parking lot). A light reception will follow at Bayview.
June 6th, 10:00 AM – Funeral Mass at St. Anne Catholic Church (1411 1st Ave West). A reception with family and friends will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorenz’s memory to the Seattle Animal Shelter, honoring his lifelong love for animals.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their support during this difficult time. Lorenz will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering gratitude.
May he rest in peace.
