Michael Hugh Henrichs, born on July 5, 1947, in Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 78 in Edmonds, Washington. Surrounded by his family, Michael’s final moments reflected the love and devotion he inspired throughout his life.
Early Life and Education
Michael was the beloved son of Betty and Hugh Henrichs. He spent his formative years in Seattle, where he graduated from Ingraham High School in 1965. Pursuing higher education, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Washington, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.
Family and Personal Life
In 1976, Michael met Teresa, who would become his lifelong partner. Their marriage in 1978 marked the beginning of a journey filled with family, shared travel adventures, and a few memorable misadventures along the way. Together, they created a home centered on love and exploration. Michael was a devoted father to his three children: Patrick (Maegan), Eric (Danavin), and Kristin. He cherished his role as a grandfather to four grandchildren—Jemma, Finn, Maysen, and Elijah—finding immense joy in their lives and accomplishments. He was the oldest of 5 children and his loving sisters were Karen (Chuck), Joanne (Bruce), Nancy (Dave) and Ally (Dan). He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. They all remained close and always enjoyed hearing about his family, travels and life experiences.
Career and Passions
Michael’s professional life began with Yellow Cab in Seattle, where he owned taxis and worked in various roles. Ultimately In 1991, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a travel agent. His passion for travel and all forms of transportation—planes, trains, and automobiles—was evident both in his career and his personal hobbies. Michael built an impressive collection of transportation models and was known for the stories and experiences that accompanied his travels. He will be remembered for his love of movement and the tales that came with it.
Remembrance and Services
A funeral service honoring Michael’s life will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lynnwood, Washington. Following the service, a reception will take place. Family will gather for the burial the following day. Michael’s presence brightened the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
