Maureen Frances Thorstensen, age 98, of Seattle/Washington, passed away on June 8th surrounded by loved ones.
Born on October 24, 1926 in Seattle, Maureen was the beloved mother of Christine Porter, Tari Simmons, Mary Paschall and Delores Kinsman. She started her career as a registered nurse and then supported her husband Herman Thorstensen becoming the office manager of his business—Thorny’s Electric Service (TEC) since 1971. As a well-respected member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish she was actively involved in the Catholic Youth Organization in the early years, and later in the Cursillo movement where she touched many lives through volunteering and community involvement. She loved to read books, do crossword puzzles and was still playing bridge and pinochle several times a week.
In addition to her 4 daughters, Maureen is survived by her grandchildren Kara Kopkas, Kristin Cook, Kimberly Simmons, Katie Simmons, her great grandsons Wyatt Kopkas and Liam Cruz, as well as her siblings Laurence Walsh and Delores Walsh. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Thorstensen and sister Kathleen Bathurst.
