Mark Steven Thomas Meehl

Mark Meehl was part leprechaun, part prince, part Peter Pan, all stirred into a pot with a dash of hedonism and deep spirituality. Raised Irish Catholic, he later embraced Buddhism and a profound adoration of the Divine Feminine. But never abandoned his faith in the Holy Saints, who remained his closest guardians and guides.

Royal in all but title, Mark embodied a hallmark regality that permeated his very essence. He loved the finer things in life, favouring fine fabrics, quality steak, and basking naked in the sun - most especially on tropical beaches. Yet he embraced these not merely as material comforts, but as a sacred communion with the divine through human bliss. All of which aided a deep calling and a unique ability to help others realize their own worthiness, abundance, prosperity, and joy.

His greatest goal in life was to be a full-time housewife. Though it came at the hard price of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 45 years old, he would eventually realize that dream - a journey which led to the formation of the Meehl Foundation for Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder. Because even in illness, he used his experiences to create a pathway for the healing of others.

For 14 years, Mark was the housewife he’d always wanted to be as I ran the Meehl House . He was full-time in his commitment to the people who attended our retreats and to their healing. He was, without a doubt, my greatest champion.

Just as he was for every single soul that passed through our home in those 14 years. Reminding us, always: “Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon… must inevitably come to pass.”

Mark is preceded in death by his mother Maureen, his fathers Dan Meehl and Dick Warren , his stepmother Venetta, and myriad ancestors who, in his own words, “will be very happy to see him”. May they receive him in the same joy and celebration with which he lived his life. He said he was ready for his next “greatest adventure”. He was a man of detail and planned his passing at the Asphodel House down to the last detail. Dying with Dignity was paramount for him. The team of hospice and volunteers at Asphodel House provided him comfort, pain relief and grace allowing him to transition peacefully and respectfully.

He is survived in life by his wife Debra Metzker Meehl, his partner Micheal Anthony Meehl, his children, Michael Warren, Sarah Peterson, Shane Meehl-Johnson, and Halona Ezell-Meehl, their spouses and his beloved grandchildren and the innumerable lives he touched with the overwhelming light of his loving, princely presence. May we carry his lineage forward with the unshakable faith, mischievous amusement, and deep reverence that infused his living days.
