Edna Marie Randle

Edna Marie Randle was born on November 29, 1937 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Her parents Blanche Lisby and Carleton Cowan raised Edna and her sister Elsie together, until the unfortunate passing of her mother Blanche when Edna was a toddler.

Edna and Elsie lived with their maternal grandmother Pearl for a short while, and went on to live with their father Carleton and their paternal family. Carleton was a Sargent in the US Army and transferred the family to Washington State.

After graduating from Garfield High, Edna went on to marry Chester Davis and they had two daughters, Blanche and Danette. 

Edna worked hard all her life. As a young woman. She entered the workforce and began working for Troy Laundry, where she met a lifelong friend, Gladys Toliver who became the mother she never had. Edna then went on to work for Boeings as a Riveter. Afterwards she attended Seattle Central College, where upon completing her studies she received an AA degree in Early Childhood Education. Edna taught Early Childhood at the Virginia Mason childcare center for over 25 years. Many of the kids she helped to educate would continue to call over the years. She loved that her babies would call and keep in touch even as adults. 

Edna was a very independent woman. She learned to drive at age 40, loved going to the pool at Garfield for her water aerobics and was very active all her life. Once Edna retired from teaching and she became a grandmother, her focus was on her grandchildren. She raised three grandchildren and always made sure they had the best that she could give them. She was proud of her accomplishments and always stood her ground on her beliefs.

In her later years Edna loved to travel to California and see her daughter Blanche and her two children. She lived briefly in El Dorado Hills before returning back to Seattle.

Edna led a simple yet powerful life of achievements. Anything she put in her mind to do, she did it. As a single woman she worked, took care of her kids and grandchildren, went to college, received her AA degree and remained independent her whole life. 

Edna will be missed by many who knew her. She lived her life with integrity, wisdom and confidence and she will be forever missed here on earth by her loved ones. Edna leaves behind her daughters Blanche (Shayla) Frank and Danette Baptiste as well as nine grandchildren, Alicia, D'Andre, Dante, Justin, Jason, Eddie, Alexandria, Anjelica, Arielle and seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
