Early Life and Family

Born and raised in Butte, Montana, Donald married his high school sweetheart, Deidra, in 1957. Together, they built a loving family and raised three daughters: Caryn, Joy, and Crystal Munkers.

Dedication to Education

A proud graduate of the University of Montana, Don devoted his life to education. He served as a teacher, coach, and principal in Washington, Montana, and Idaho. His commitment to students and learning touched countless lives throughout his career.

Faith and Community

Don was a devoted member of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, joining the congregation in 1970. He later continued his spiritual journey as a charter member of Living Hope Lutheran Church in 2025.

Legacy

Donald is survived by his wife of 68 years, Deidra; his daughters Caryn, Joy, and Crystal; grandson Riley Durasoff; and son-in-law, Matt Durasoff. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Janice Simon of Fairmont, Minnesota.

Memorial Service

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 28th, at 1:00 PM at Living Hope Lutheran Church, located at 10940 SE 168th St., Renton, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Living Hope Lutheran Church in memory of Don.
