Charles “Chuck” Francis Sheridan, a Seattle resident for 47 years and husband of Kim Seaman Sheridan, passed away on December 17, 2025, at age 74.
Born in Chicago on May 4, 1951, to Robert Francis and Simone “Monette” Marthe Campeau Sheridan, Chuck grew up on Chicago’s South Side. He attended St. Margaret of Scotland and Christ the King grammar schools, and while still in grammar school, Chuck became the youngest boy in Chicago Boy Scout history to earn the Eagle Scout badge.
After graduating from Brother Rice High School in 1969, Chuck earned a Political Science degree from the University of Illinois and a Master’s in Deaf Education from Illinois State University.
Chuck and Kim met and fell in love during their college years. They began their life together in 1974 and moved to Seattle in 1978. In 1986, they purchased a beautiful home in West Seattle, where they have resided ever since. The couple were married in 1995. Together for 52 years, their enduring love and commitment brought joy to each other and to their families and friends.
Chuck built a career assisting individuals facing challenges and vulnerabilities. He worked as a mental health specialist, certified biofeedback therapist, and supervisor, supported students in special services, and served as an administrator at several care and rehabilitation facilities. Throughout his career, he advocated with concern and dedication for those he served.
Active throughout his life, Chuck enjoyed many sports, particularly racquetball and swimming laps. He was a devoted Seattle Seahawks fan and attended many Mariners games, including Felix Hernández’s perfect game, which he watched from the front row behind home plate.
An avid reader with a passion for history, politics, medicine, and science fiction, Chuck loved spirited conversations and often debated others’ sources and perspectives. He also loved music and dancing. In his sixties, he took up the bass guitar and found great joy in playing music with his dear friends and favorite singers. To the delight of children, Chuck sometimes talked like a pirate. For more than 30 years he visited Fauntleroy Children’s Center each Christmas as Santa Claus.
A skilled cook, his Thanksgiving turkey, St. Patrick’s Day corned beef, chili, ribs, and risotto were favorites among family and friends. Chuck had a contagious laugh, an uncanny ability to make people feel special and a love for a good party. He loved his family and friends, and he loved spending time at West Seattle’s Alki Beach.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Francis and Simone Marthe Sheridan of Olympia, Washington; his brothers, Simon Raoul Hartog of London, England, and Robert Michael Sheridan of Chicago, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Sheridan; his brothers, James “Jaymo” Joseph Sheridan (Dominique) of Tucson, Arizona, and Francis Eugene Sheridan (Barbara) of San Diego, California; his sister, Marion Francine Sheridan (Craig Calhoon) of Olympia, Washington; his foster sister, Ana Wydra (Richard) of Miami, Florida; and his sisters-in-law, Antonella Ibba of London, England, and Jennifer Thiermann of Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Chuck’s life touched many in meaningful ways. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
