Timothy R. Tajchman
Timothy R. Tajchman, 47, died in Seattle on November 19, 2009 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Tim was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Being outdoors, fishing, hiking, skiing, and sailing were among the things he loved to do most. Tim loved to grow plants both indoors and outside. His amazing green thumb was evident in the enormous indoor plants that thrived under his care and in the bountiful outdoors vegetable and flower gardens he planted every year. One of Tim's long-time passions was playing lacrosse. He played on and even coached his high school team, on the University of Colorado Boulder team during college, and then on the Red Hook and Bluefish club teams in the Seattle area. Another passion he picked up after moving to Seattle in the mid 1980's was sailboat racing in and around the Puget Sound. Tim crewed on several different competitive racing boats over the years including the Maverick, Sorcerer and Locomotion. He was also passionate about progressive politics and actively supported multiple organizations that aligned with his views. Tim loved listening to a wide range of musical genres, but he particularly enjoyed the mix of music played on Seattle's KEXP radio station. He always made a point to see as much live music as he could. Through all Tim's interests, his deepest passion was for the people in his life. No matter where he worked (Boeing and Physio Control), where he went to school or what he played, Tim always attracted wonderful people into his life. In particular, his loving partner Clare O'Connor who helped create an incredibly warm, welcoming home, and with Tim hosted unparalleled parties and created long lasting traditions. Tim is survived by Clare, his father Ed, brothers Ron (& Nancy) and Gary (& Amy), sister Margi, and many dear friends and relatives. Tim was predeceased by his mother Peggy. A memorial gathering celebrating Tim's life will be held at the Lake Forest Park Civic Club, just north of Seattle on Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 1pm-4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests charitable donations be made in Tim's name.
